Still using it!

| My son is 7 months old and I still use the adapter, even though he's big enough to sit in the Baby Jogger on his own. I get to interact with him, it's easier for him to nap (his favorite thing to do when we head out for a run), and it's easier to keep him bundled and warm in the colder weather. Also, the path I run on is alongside a busy road and having him in his car seat allows me to protect him from flying pebbles, exhaust, etc. Obviously, I have to switch him out soon, but it's been such a great thing I've used since he was 2 weeks old! I've gotten my money's worth! |
Simple to setup. Other reviews: WTF?

I'm always interested in what others have to say about items that I might buy. I'm also always humored by two things:
"I just got X in the last week but here's what I think..."
AND
"It's so difficult to set up..."
I don't usually write a review, but had to in this case. The Baby Jogger Performance Single Car Seat Adapter is simple to set up, contrary to what MANY reviewers have stated. I'm not an engineer or a mechanic. I use my hands, but that's only to stick needles into people to cure diseases.
Basically, I took the Adapter, lined up the screw holes to the Jogger, and screwed the thing in. It took me about ten minutes, mostly because I was trying to find my screwdriver that my three year-old had borrowed.
Good luck. It's a great item and my wife already loves it. Oh, and we've had it only about a week...hahaha. |
Works perfectly!

I was a little skeptical about this adapter after reading the reviews here. Would it be difficult to install (I read one reviewer say they had to drill holes)? Is it flimsy? Will it work? After testing it out on a hilly 5k course, I can safely say that this adapter does exactly what it is supposed to do!
I do agree that the instructions are a bit cryptic, but once you figure out where everything goes, it's a snap to put together. I think they need a few more pictures in their instructions. You do need a wrench for the hex bolts. I installed the plastic clips up on the side bars below the handles right above the first snap. Then I bolted in the adapter. You have to remove the bolt that's in the middle of the side bars and replace it with the long bolt that comes with the adapter. You do NOT have to drill any holes. Once I got everything put together, I snapped in my Graco snugride 32 (with baby inside) and was good to go! I actually forgot to strap in the carseat with the attached belt for the 5k. Oops.
My only regret is that I didn't wait another month to purchase this, as the price went down. Oh well. It's definitely worth it if you are a runner, especially if you are training for a race with a baby. I have a half marathon coming up in a month, and will take my baby along for my long training runs. |
Works well, but install is not obvious

| I installed this adapter onto a 2001 Baby Jogger II, after calling Baby Jogger and learning that they sell the same adapter kit for all of their recent jogging strollers with 20" wheels, regardless of actual product name. The adapter works very well with our Graco infant seat now that it is installed, but the installation was not a trivial effort. No only did the adapter come with no instructions, but the instruction PDF that I found on Baby Jogger's website is very vague and the pictures are almost worthless. Fortunately, I'm a tinkerer and quickly determined that the spacers on both the stroller and that came with this adapter were too big, so I just cut them down to size and found some extra washers in my toolbox. I had the adapter connected after about an hour of finding instructions, deciphering them, discarding them and, finally, doing my own thing. |
Should cost less...

We purchased this product to use with our Peg Perego car seat in our Baby Jogger. I was surprised at the lack of quality with this product especially since Baby Jogger put their name on it. I believe that most of the problem lies in the fact that this item is somewhat universal so I should have anticipated it not being perfect.
This item arrives with no instructions (but its not that hard to figure out) and my husband had to actually drill holes into the frame of the stroller to attach the car seat adapter (-1 star). When we place the car seat in the adapter it tilts forward instead of being snug and level in the seat of the stroller (like in the picture) and when we remove the car seat the back bar pops out and it is somewhat hard to get out (usually involves me holding the bar while my husband yanks the car seat out (- the second star)).
Overall, I would purchase this product again because I enjoy running with my baby and being able to get back to running in general but wish that the adapter would've been either made better or cost less money. It does the job and maybe if you have a different car seat then it may fit better and not be as difficult to remove but the fact that you have to actually drill in the frame of the stoller and the price cost this item 2 stars for me. |
Works ok

| I liked it, eventhough the instructions are basically non existent, a couple of friends got together and we finally assembled it the right way. I have ran up to one hour an 10 mins with my two month old baby here. The stroller is pretty good too but for that price it should be perfect and it is not. |
Poor design.

It is annoying that installation instructions are not included. However, their customer support is very helpful.
The shims are too large for the top bracket to be installed. To be able to squeeze the bracket around the tubing with the original length shim is next to impossible. To install it, we shortened the shim by 1/3". If you are able to install the bracket with the original shim, you run the risk of the nut coming out due to the stress on the plastic. Further, the idea of the nylon webbing to secure the seat makes my uncomfortable.
